Quick tips before you start planning:
1. Study is a big investment
Be realistic about the cost of study As you will not be able to get a loan and scholarships are rare, you must be realistic about the cost of study and the cost of living in Australia. Follow this link for average study costs. To be granted a student visa you must provide evidence of having sufficient funds to pay (part of) your tuition fees. Look here for more info about cost of living in Australia.
2. Seek help from family or friends
As Australia is a country of immigrants, many international students choose a location because a family member or a friend lives in the neighborhood. Maybe you know somebody in Australia, or you know somebody who knows somebody. Having a contact down under will help you adapt to the way of life easier, and will make you feel more at home.
3. Is your former education recognized?
4. Think about where you would like to study
As Australia is such a big and diverse country, climate ranges from tropical warm to hot and dry in summer and wet and cool in winter. The big cities are busy and offer exciting cultural opportunities. Some regional areas are more relaxed and less hectic.
5. Ask other students
Interested to know what other students think about courses, or planning for Australia? You will not get better information than from students who have gone through it all. Go to our forum to ask a question.
