Visa and Permanent Residency
Student Visa
Students that want to study in Australia need a visa. Before you can apply for a visa, you should get a `letter of offer` from the institution you applied for.
Embassy
How do you apply for a Student Visa? If you’re applying for an Australian Student Visa from your country, you must contact your nearest Australian departmental office (usually the Australian Embassy or Australian Consulate General), because regulations differ from one country to another. Check your country’s Departmental office for more information.
Your visa options also depend on what course of study you’re taking. See: Visa Options

Permanent Resident (PR)
Your student visa does not allow you `Permanent Residence` (PR) in Australia after you have completed your studies. However, `The Australian Government skilled migration program` targets young people who have skills, an education and outstanding abilities that will contribute to the Australian economy. Eligible students can apply onshore for a Permanent Residence (PR). If you wish to migrate to Australia you should contact DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship) to find out more about the migration requirements.
