hey bert i am glad that you have raised this issue, personally i feel its completely overrated and this has only increased more unwanted attention, even i was attacked once but i was in the wrong place at the wrong time. international students just have to learn to mix up with more locals and be a part of the society they are living in. so thats my take on the issue of safety and racism.
