Discount Public Transport
Hundreds of students rallied outside the New South Wales and Victoria parliaments this week, demanding travel concessions for international students. Australian students pay only half price for public transport tickets, but International Students must pay full price.
What do you think: Is this fair? Let us know, leave a comment.
Great point and I totally agree, Being the devil's advocate: with over half a million international students, it is obviously a cost issue........ Who is paying?
Bert
Well Bert i would totally agree with those International students who are at first burned by the hefty fee that is charged from the International students by the universities, and also they have to settle in a completely new environment, away from the luxuries they are used to, and at the same time trying to manage in a very low-budget. The public transport fee is just another blow to their limited budget since they have to travel each day to their unis or from uni to work and back.
So i believe that this sort of a concession will help the international students a lot, and this should not be considered as an opportunity to just take advantage of them just because they are "international students", instead they should be made felt that they are a part of the country they left in pursuit of their careers and future life.
